An Olathe police officer shot and killed a man who pulled a gun on officers inside a Dollar General Store. Police originally responded to the area of Santa Fe and Clairborne Road on a report of a vehicle traveling the wrong direction in the westbound lanes of traffic. Police determined that a vehicle had struck the median and left. Evidence led police to parking lot of the Dollar General, where they found a vehicle matching the description. It was unoccupied. When officers entered the store, the man confronted officers and pointed a handgun at one officer. The officer shot the man who was pronounced dead at the scene. The officer was not injured.
