Jackson County sheriff's deputies called to the shelter house on reports of a body in a vehicle found Bethany Deaton dead in the back seat, with a plastic bag over her head and a suicide note nearby. Eleven days later, a suspect confessed, alleging he was told to kill her to prevent her telling others about sexual abuse she had endured at the Kansas City home she shared with her husband and other men who attended the International House of Prayer.
Police have cleared this case.
