This was a domestic violence-related homicide.
Three bodies found Dec. 17 in a Clay County home east of Smithville Lake were apparently the victims of a double murder and suicide.
They were identified as Jan Hepworth, 70, his wife Cheryl Hepworth, 69, and 14-year-old Damian Russell, who they were seeking to be named guardian.
Authorities did not know what led to the shootings. However, investigators said that Jan Hepworth had health problems and experienced some depression.
Police have cleared this case.
