The Kansas City Star

Authorities identified the victim of an early morning shooting in Kansas City, Kan., this afternoon as Tyler L. Manis.

Manis, 20, of Kansas City, Kan., was fatally shot shortly before 12:30 a.m. Thursday inside a residence in the 3100 block of South 63rd Street, according to police.

Police said that the shooting occurred during a “small gathering,” and that alcohol may have played a role in a disturbance that preceded the shooting.

Another man was detained at the scene for questioning and remained in custody this afternoon, police said. No charges have been filed.
