Third homicide of the day appears to be road rage

A woman driving on Emanuel Cleaver II Boulevard about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday was shot and killed in what police say appears to be an incident of road rage.

Police said the woman was westbound at Elmwood Avenue when another vehicle pulled up beside her and shots were fired. The woman, whose name has not been released, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The suspect vehicle is an early 2000s model, maroon-colored Expedition or Explorer with tinted windows and no tags. A woman was driving.

It was the seventh homicide in Kansas City since Monday and the third on Wednesday.
