Discovery of body launches homicide investigation

The discovery of the body of a man found in the 2900 block of North 17th Street about 2 a.m. Sunday has prompted a homicide investigation in Kansas City, Kan.

A Police Department news release said that the victim, a black man in his 40s, was found by officers responding to a call to the neighborhood. The victim’s name had not been released early Sunday pending notification of his family.

Police are asking anyone with information about the death to contact the city’s major case sqauad at 913-573-6020 or the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS (8477).

KCK police release name of man found dead Sunday

Kansas City, Kan., police today identified the victim of a weekend homicide as 44-year-old Tony L. Irvin, of Kansas City, Kan.
