The victim of a shooting Thursday night in Cass County has died, the sheriff’s office announced Friday.

He was identified as Eldon Eugene Campbell Jr., a 60-year-old resident of Harrisonville.

According to the sheriff’s office, deputies were called about 9:50 p.m. Thursday on a reported shooting in the 27000 block of Southeast Outer Road, which is south of Harrisonville near U.S. 71.

There they found the wounded victim. He was taken to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Investigators said they have identified a person of interest in the incident. That person was also taken to a hospital, but the name and condition were not being released Friday.

Campbell, known as Rocky, was an owner of Campbell Fire Protection, which is in the same block where the shooting occurred.

The business installs and services fire protection and security equipment and systems.
